Welcome to my professional portfolio! I am currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in music education at the Indiana Jacobs School of Music, with an expected graduation date of December 2014. As a music educator and performer, I have taught in a wide variety of settings and had many different performance opportunities for over ten years. While pursuing my B.M. and M.M. in flute performance, I taught flute to students of all levels, from ages 7 to 51, in private and group lessons. My passion for helping others learn about and experience making music with the flute eventually expanded to include a passion for helping others learn about and experience music in general, especially children. After beginning Kodály certification, I had the life changing opportunity to teach part-time in my own classroom as a music specialist to children of a public elementary school, giving me the determination to acquire a music education degree that includes state licensure.
This website is designed to include examples of my work that demonstrate the musical and educational knowledge and ability that I have gained over the course of my studies and experiences. They are organized according to the Indiana Division of Professional Standards (IDPS) and can be found via the IDPS pull down menu above. Each piece of evidence includes a brief explanation of my reasons for including it and each is labeled as knowledge, performance, or disposition. For an overview of my educational and teaching experiences, my résumé can be found under its own tab above. If you have any questions or comments, or would like to receive additional information, please feel free to contact me. |
